Brain Roy: Influential Street Art Artist at Pop Art Gallery

BRAIN ROY, born in 1980 in Lyon, discovered the world of graffiti in the early 2000s through wall claims in his hometown. This experience had a profound impact on him.

His tags and throw-ups created in the underground arteries of the Paris Metro are considered benchmarks in the field, whether personal gestures or collective ones made with his group MR&ROY.

His name is omnipresent on lines 5, 10, and 13, earning him the title of "King of subway." Drawing on his experience as an activist in various ideological struggles for a strengthened identity quest, and encouraged by the city, its human diversity, and his creativity, he quickly became a key figure in the GRAFF movement.

In 2002, the group ROYANDCO was dissolved, and Nicolas ROY gradually turned to canvas, closely following all street art trends, which he integrated into his cultural references, previous experiences, and especially the world of POP ART.

This popular culture, combined with his artistic references, allowed Brain Roy to create art accessible to all and firmly rooted in his time, thus reflecting his image.
