Superheroes have always been a source of inspiration for artists, whether it be comic books, films, television series or even contemporary works of art. Superheroes have a power of attraction on the public that goes beyond the boundaries of popular culture, and their impact on art is undeniable.
In contemporary art , many artists have used superheroes as a symbol of the fight against injustice, oppression and violence. For example, American artist Roy Lichtenstein created works of art based on images from superhero comic books, enlarging and reproducing them in the manner of screen printing.
Similarly, artist Banksy created a series of murals depicting superheroes in distress, such as Batman trying to escape from a police dragnet or Superman being hit by a bus. These images have been interpreted as a critique of the way society treats its heroes, as well as a reflection on humanity's vulnerability to violence.
