Marvel-inspired artwork

Œuvres d’art inspirées par Marvel

Marvel was founded in 1939 as Timely Publications before becoming, in the 1960s, the giant we know today thanks to Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. Their universe revolutionized comics by creating superheroes who were more human, vulnerable, and grounded in real society. Characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, the X-Men, and the Avengers became global icons. Marvel's expansion continued in film with the emergence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) , a collection of interconnected films that has become a global cultural phenomenon. Today, the Marvel universe influences not only comics and film, but also fashion, design, art, and all of contemporary pop culture.

This original work by Popik stages a spectacular interplay between comics and sculpture. A copy of issue number 1 of "Fantastici Quattro" (Fantastic Four in Italian) appears to literally explode under the impact of a massive, embossed fist, which bursts from the paper as if piercing a barrier between fiction and reality. The fist represents The Thing , one of the iconic members of the Fantastic Four, with its characteristic rocky texture. The staging plays on the effect of trompe-l'oeil and dynamic destruction, giving the impression that the superhero is stepping out of the comic book and into our world. This hybrid creation, a cross between pop art and sculpture, pays homage to the world of comics by instilling an impression of movement and raw energy, faithful to the explosive spirit of superhero comics.

This striking work by the artist Popik is a fusion between comics and sculpture, giving a new dimension to pop art and geek culture. The artist diverts a cover of the comic L'Uomo Ragno (Italian version of Spider-Man ), integrating a fist in relief, emerging from the frame as if he wanted to break the boundary between fiction and reality. Made using laser synthesis technology, which allows for layer-by-layer 3D printing using powder, this sculpture highlights meticulous work on textures and material effects. The integration of torn elements and sculpted details reinforces the visual power of the work, evoking the brute force of the superhero and the impact of pop culture on our collective imagination. A unique and striking piece that plays on the contrasts between the two-dimensional design and the three-dimensionality of the sculpture, making this creation a true collector's item.
