Addiel Arturo
Under his full name, Addiel A. Rodríguez Mayo, the artist signs his works as Addiel Arturo — or simply Arturo. He is described as a Spanish-Dutch street artist and, since the 2010s, has developed a practice at the intersection of street art, pop art, and studio painting.
A mixed-media practice. His technical signature is based on layering. His canvases combine acrylic, ink transfer, and spray paint, often enhanced with UV colors, in square formats such as 100 × 100 cm or more freely sized works, systematically signed at the bottom of the front. This accumulation of layers — stencil, drip, photographic transfer, and spray-painted lines — gives his pieces the density of an urban wall: the strata can be read as on a covered façade.
A proudly pop iconography. Addiel Arturo draws from a repertoire of universally shared icons: Marilyn Monroe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Snoopy, and Mario Bros are among the figures he reinterprets and subverts. He adds a sharper dimension, directly invoking the language of money and success — as evidenced by titles such as Show Me the Money and All for Me. The star, the sports hero, the cartoon character, and the banknote are treated as components of the same contemporary imaginary of desire.
Distribution. His work circulates throughout Europe via galleries and specialized platforms, notably Samhart Gallery, and he also produces mixed-media sculptures and objects, as well as limited editions on canvas.
