The artist’s signature technique fully showcases his expertise here: each pixel is a piece of paper cut, beveled, and hand-lacquered, edged with a pale blue trim that outlines the figure with a delicate frosted frame. The glossy varnish makes the light ripple across the facets like on a freshly polished car body—the squares seem soaked in lacquer, almost wet, shimmering with every shift of the gaze.
The background reveals a new level of refinement: on the dark gray, the horde is printed in glossy black lacquer, shining against the matte.
