Benny Art
Benny Arte is a contemporary visual artist. His work lies at the intersection of three movements: neo-pop, street art, and narrative surrealism. He draws inspiration from the golden age of popular culture, from the 1940s to the late 1980s. In this way, he explores our collective memory through iconic figures from classic animation, toys that shaped the childhoods of several generations, and the raw energy of vinyl and cassette music culture.
A presence on the contemporary art scene, his original works and limited editions regularly find their way into private collections in France and internationally.
A practice between innocence and gravity
Benny Arte’s work goes beyond graphic homage or simple nostalgia. It explores human fragility and the passage of time. The artist reimagines figures and objects imbued with innocence: retro icons, fragments of childhood, symbols of a bygone era. He turns them into silent witnesses to our own transformations.
In his compositions, childhood’s carefree spirit collides with the harshness of reality and contemporary vanitas, those memento mori that remind us that everything passes. Marine elements disrupt interior scenes. Promises remain suspended. The Old Masters continually cross paths with urban culture. The work constantly treads the line of memory, between melancholy and resilience.
The rigor of materials
This exploration involves a meticulous approach to materials. Benny Arte creates canvases mounted on stretchers with carefully crafted reliefs, prints under acrylic glass, and Fine Art prints made with pigment inks on textured cotton paper. Each piece acts as a time capsule, at once intimate, poetic, and universal: an invitation to rediscover, for a fleeting moment, the child we once were and the adult we have become.
