Irina Vladau is a visual artist born in 1975 in a town in Transylvania, Romania, where she grew up and continued her studies . She graduated from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca with a major in textile design.
Encouraged from a young age by her family—especially her grandfather, a self-taught painter—Irina developed a passion for color and observation from an early age. After having a son, she had to temporarily put her artistic career on hold, pursuing other jobs to support her family—among them, creating wood-block icons. She also worked as a designer for an Austrian candle company. Eventually, she returned to her first passion: painting.
Based in Milan, Italy, Irina Vladau has established herself as a contemporary artist specializing in abstract painting . Her artistic universe draws its inspiration from:
-
Nature , which she translates into evocative visual textures.
-
Music and its dynamic emotional power.
-
Her inner world —emotions, vulnerability, dreams, and reality—she merges into a profound expression.
On her art website, she describes her creative process as an evolving exploration of human emotion and vulnerability, using traditional techniques mixed with free gestures—layering, scraping, fluid pouring—to capture fleeting moments of inspiration . Her work is presented as an invitation to look beyond the surface, revealing hidden layers of meaning and emotion to each observer.
Composing unique abstract works, rich in textures and colors, is what characterizes her work. She sometimes integrates digital elements, collage, and drawing, playing with light, shadows, shapes and reflections to create new visual realities . The result: vibrant paintings, both delicate and powerful, capable of establishing a deep emotional dialogue with the viewer.
