Miami

Turquoise and pink: that’s all it takes to say Miami. The turquoise of the ocean, swimming pools, and Ocean Drive’s Art Deco facades fills the entire background. Pink, meanwhile, has become part of the character. Luxxo, the signature figure of GNelly, stands with his arms at his sides, slightly off-center, with plenty of space around him.

The head blends pink, cobalt blue, and yellow, and features two large black crosses for eyes, thick, glossy, and raised. A white zigzag line runs along the skull like a seam. The body explores every shade of pink, from candy to coral, accented with vivid yellow, red, and touches of turquoise that bring the background into the silhouette. One arm is streaked with black, while the other plunges into deep blue and purple. Everywhere, the paint has been applied with a palette knife in generous layers.

Then come the words. Miami is also a city of painted walls and art fairs, from Wynwood to Art Basel, and Luxxo bears their imprint like a wall covered in graffiti. “Pink Love” is written across the chest, “Happiness” lower down, and “Art” on a small yellow sign planted like a street sign. Around them: a crown drawn in red, a heart at the end of a stem, another pierced by an arrow, a thickly raised yellow flower, a spiral, and rows of red and orange dots. Black and white splashes burst from the silhouette, extending the energy of the gesture.

A hand-painted black frame borders the composition. Luxxo’s name runs vertically along the right edge, and GNelly’s signature appears in gold lettering inside a black cartouche at the bottom right.

The automotive varnish gives the whole piece a wet look, as if the paint had just been applied. Beneath this smooth, reflective surface, the turquoise takes on the transparency of pool water, while the character’s raised details catch the light whenever your gaze shifts.

A unique, joyful piece full of energy, between pop art and urban art, signed and delivered with its certificate of authenticity.
