DeLorean 40th

It is motionless, doors raised, as if someone had come down from it. descend. At 192 centimeters wide, this DeLorean is no longer an image of car: it is a presence, at scale from a wall, which imposes its front length even the fact that one can distinguish anything.

There where DELOREAN BACK was a work of subtraction, this one is an a work of accumulation. Everything is filled, everything is built, and the the bodywork becomes a territory to to explore. Steel brushed steel is not gray : it is made of hundreds of shades blended - whites, gray pearl, anthracite, taupes, but also lavenders, and pale blues, and sands, greens muted, pinks powdery. These colors improbable, invisible to distance, are exactly what the metal does. From afar, the eye blends them in a single reflection. From up close, it reveals a mosaic.

The interior is the tipping point. There where the bodywork reads like a surface, the interior opens up in depth : seats, pillar of windshield, headrest, and this dense blackness that deepens the cabin. A few red accents and green lights come on in the shadow, barely perceptible, such as the indicators of a dashboard remains powered on.

And then there is the line. A black vertical line crosses the artwork and separates it in two panels, exactly aligned with open door. A diptych is never neutral: this division splits the machine in its center, separates the front from the back, the departure of arrival. Discreetly, on the left, two dates comment - October 26th 1985 / 2025. Forty years on either side in one stroke.

Brick Board Builder did notdid not place a single brick according to a plan. Each element was chosen by hand, in a stock of LEGO® bricks second-hand arrived in bulk from all over France and sorted one to one - including one part of it coming from solidarity-based reuse thanks to the association Replayed. Pieces without a story that find one again. At at this scale, the quantity of bricks sorted can be counted in tens of thousands, and each one was chosen for its color, its shape, its brilliance. This artwork does not could ever be recreated to identical.

Nor print, nor reproduction, nor intelligence artificial. An constructed artwork, numbered and delivered with its certificate of authenticity and signed on the back.
