With “Lunar,” EAZ conjures from the shadows a creature of icy cyan, between turquoise and lagoon blue, whose cold glow irresistibly evokes the moonlight on the night. A massive, frontal silhouette, the invader occupies the space with an imposing presence—a compact mass of luminous pixels suspended in darkness, like a pixelated star in full ascent.
The artist’s signature technique operates here with crystalline precision: each pixel is a tile of paper cut, beveled, and hand-lacquered, edged with a pale trim that frames the figure with a frosted halo. The glossy varnish gives the cyan squares reflections of ice or anodized metal—the light glides over them in cold, almost phosphorescent flashes, like on the frozen surface of a distant satellite.
The background continues the refinement introduced in the series: on anthracite gray, the horde is printed in glossy black over matte. These shadow invaders appear only with grazing light—fleeting presences that populate the night around their luminous scout, like shadows crossing in deep space.
The title says it all about the tone of the work: “Lunar” is a nocturnal and contemplative piece, bathed in that cold and silent light belonging only to cloudless nights. Neither threat nor conquest here, but an apparition—the invader turned moonlight, floating serenely above a sleeping world.
