From afar, the unmistakable image: Boba Fett’s helmet, split visor, stands out against a blazing red background. An icon that any Star Wars fan recognizes in a fraction of a second. Up close, everything comes apart. The red is no longer a color but a texture—dozens of shades of LEGO® bricks, plates, tiles, and technical elements that catch the light differently depending on the time of day and viewing angle.
The T-shaped visor and the helmet’s cheeks are treated like weathered paint: gray, off-white, ochre, yellow, and orange blend together to create the scratches, impacts, and scars of a Mandalorian armor that has crossed Tatooine, the Carkoon Pit, and forty years of Star Wars mythology. The deep black on the right side does not swallow the image; it gives it depth—you have to move closer to discover the hidden pieces, touches of pink, little stars, and details that the eye only catches on a second look.
Brick Board Builder did not place a single brick according to a plan. Each element was chosen by hand from a stock of second-hand LEGO® bricks that arrived loose from all over France and were sorted one by one—some of them sourced through charitable reuse thanks to the Rejoué association. Pieces with no history of their own find one again. This refusal to follow a pattern gives the work its texture, irregularity, and identity: it can never be recreated exactly.
