The same celestial invader, with its massive frontal silhouette frozen mid-descent, now shines against a deep black background—and the contrast changes everything: the blue, dazzling against a daytime backdrop in the lighter version, becomes luminous in its own right here, as if backlit from within, a faithful echo of the cathode-ray screens of yesteryear.
The artist’s signature technique achieves a striking effect here: the pixels are a skilful blend of paper and vinyl that makes the figure glow. The glossy surface makes the blue squares shimmer like fragments of stained glass or ice scales lit in the darkness—the light catches on them, slides across them, and sparkles as the viewer’s gaze moves.
